Below is information on the various support organisations and helplines in Barcelona. While some have English-speaking staff and volunteers, there is no guarantee that English will be spoken. Spanish Red Cross (Cruz Roja)The Spanish Red Cross provides help for drug addicts and their families, people affected by HIV, immigrants and the elderly. It runs assistance centres for drug addicts and their families. The centres offer emergency and psychological help, a meeting place and a shelter. Further services include social integration classes and first aid courses, assistance in finding accommodation, treatment for drug addiction and mobile methadone units. Helping minors is a special priority.

Alcoholics AnonymousThere are a number of meetings, in English, held by Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon.
HIV/AIDSgTt - HIV Treatment Group (Grupo de Trabajo sobre Tratamientos del VIH): The association offers HIV treatment advice. This no-profit organisation can also offer help and advice on social, political, economic and cultural issues to those with HIV/AIDS.
Stop SIDA: Non-for-profit organisation dedicated to the fight against AIDS. The aim of the organisation is to encourage prevention but also provides support, information and resources to infected people, their family and friends. There is an information and counselling service available by appointment only.
Emotional support is also available by appointment.
Cancer SupportGrup Agata - Catalan Breast Cancer Association (Asociación Catalana de Mujeres Afectadas de Cáncer de Mama):
gAmis is an association providing support to women with breast cancer.
AFANOC - Catalan Association of Parents of Children with Cancer (Asociación de Padres de Niños con cáncer de Cataluña) helps and gives support to children with cancer and their families.

Narcotics AnonymousNarcotics Anonymous (NA) is a non-profit fellowship of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Narcotics Anonymous meetings are held in English in the Barcelona area and recovering addicts meet regularly to help each other stay clean. NA meetings are held Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at one of two venues. See the English-language website for maps and directions to the meeting venues: Meeting venues
Support Groups for WomenNational helpline for women victims of violence.
The Centre Cívic Sant Martí de Provencals has a women's association (Asociación de Ayuda a la Mujer) that provides help and assistance to women in Barcelona.
Action against Domestic Violence (Acció contra la Violència Domèstica): Provides help and support for women suffering from domestic violence.
Grup Gemma: Support group for pregnant women and mothers. Weekly meetings are held on topics such as pregnancy, childbirth and children. La Lliga de la Llet: Catalan branch of La Leche League, organisation offering breastfeeding information and support. The meetings are held in Spanish or Catalan, however, the group in Horta has an English-speaking monitor. Children's HelplineFundación ANAR – Help for Children and Adolescents at Risk (Ayuda a Niños y Adolescentes en Riesgo): The foundation Has a helpline for minors who need psychological and legal help.
Support Groups for the ElderlyAge Concern España has an information line and can provide assistance to those who find themselves in difficult circumstances or who need more information on services in their area.
